Trump Rebukes Israel for Breaking Ceasefire with Iran – World news

Amid rising global condemnation of Israel’s military aggression, Trump publicly expressed his outrage over Tel Aviv’s violation of the ceasefire with Iran, accusing Israel of unleashing massive airstrikes mere hours after agreeing to halt hostilities.

“I’m really unhappy with Israel. Stop dropping bombs. Bring your pilots home, now!” Trump told reporters before leaving for the NATO summit in The Hague.

According to Al Jazeera’s US correspondent Phil Lavelle, Trump felt “quite annoyed” and “perhaps betrayed” by Netanyahu after Israel carried out fresh attacks despite agreeing to the truce.

“He was angry with both Israel and Iran. But you could really tell some of the extra anger there, the extra fury was aimed at Israel,” Lavelle reported.

Trump had personally called Netanyahu before the truce to gain his support and coordinated with Qatar to secure Iran’s cooperation. Despite this, Israeli warplanes launched an attack, prompting Trump to issue a furious rebuke.

An Axios journalist cited an Israeli official saying Trump phoned Netanyahu again, urging him to abort the operation. Netanyahu reportedly refused, falsely claiming the attack was necessary because Iran had violated the ceasefire.

Trump confirmed via his Truth Social account that Israeli aircraft would not proceed: “ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran. Nobody will be hurt. The Ceasefire is in effect!”

He further condemned Tel Aviv’s actions: “Israel dropped a load of bombs the likes of which I’ve never seen” just an hour after agreeing to the ceasefire. “When I say, ‘you have 12 hours,’ you don’t go out in the first hour and just drop everything you have on them,” Trump added.

“We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what … they’re doing,” he claimed, also accusing Iran of breaking the ceasefire he announced hours earlier.

On the ground in Iran, the Ministry of Health reported that 606 civilians have been killed and 4,746 wounded from 12 days of Israeli attacks. Among the dead are 13 children — including a two-month-old — and 49 women, two of whom were pregnant.

Hossein Kermanpour, a spokesperson, stated that 971 victims are still hospitalized, with 687 surgeries performed. The brutal assault also claimed the lives of five healthcare workers and injured 20 more. Seven hospitals, six emergency response bases, four clinics, and nine ambulances have been damaged by Israeli strikes.

While the US routinely shields Israel on the global stage, Trump’s unusual public anger underscores deepening cracks in Washington’s blind support for Tel Aviv’s war crime.
