Galaxy Unpacked 2025: Samsung expected to share first-look at Galaxy Fold 7 and Flip phones

Samsung has announced its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on 9 July 2025, where the tech giant is expected to unveil its latest foldable smartphones and wearable devices.

The teaser for the event closes with the phrase “Ultra Unfolds,” signalling that significant upgrades — possibly even new naming conventions — could be on the horizon.

The event will begin at 3pm BST and be livestreamed globally. It marks a return to New York for Samsung’s mid-year showcase, which in recent years has focused on foldable devices and smartwatches.

Based on promotional materials and industry leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are likely to headline the event.

Speculation also suggests that at least one of the devices may receive an “Ultra” designation, hinting at enhanced specifications or a new tier within Samsung’s foldable lineup. A rumoured tri-fold device may also make an appearance, though Samsung has yet to confirm any details.

Samsung has been gradually building anticipation through official blogs and teaser imagery.

The digital invitation features a minimalist animation: a single horizontal line expanding into two distinct devices — one believed to be the Flip, the other unfolding into what resembles the larger Fold model.

Hardware enhancements are anticipated across both foldables. Reports suggest the Fold 7 will adopt a thinner profile, a larger 8-inch internal display, and potentially a 200MP main camera, aligning it with the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s photography capabilities.

Software improvements are also expected via Samsung’s One UI 8 and expanded Galaxy AI features, bolstered by continued collaboration with Google.

The Z Flip 7, while likely maintaining similar camera hardware to its predecessor, may feature a larger 4-inch external display and software upgrades designed to improve usability and photography performance. The internal display is also expected to grow slightly to 6.8 inches.

In addition to foldables, the event may feature updates to the Galaxy Watch line.

The Galaxy Watch 8 is expected to introduce health-focused improvements and a redesigned display. The return of the rotating bezel — a feature last seen in the Watch Classic — has also been hinted at in recent leaks.

Samsung is encouraging users to pre-register interest in the upcoming devices. Those who sign up are eligible for a $50 Samsung Credit, with no purchase commitment required. Customers may also unlock further promotional savings if they choose to pre-order once the devices are announced.

While it remains to be seen whether Samsung will redefine its foldables with an “Ultra” edition or unveil an entirely new form factor, expectations are high for the brand’s third Unpacked event of 2025.

As always, the focus will be on innovation — both in design and capability — as the company aims to solidify its lead in the foldable category.
