Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing, the beloved Made in Chelsea couple, have shared their joyous news with fans: they’re expecting their first child together.
On Tuesday, 3 June, the couple posted a touching video from Habboo’s first pregnancy scan, showing a beaming Habboo gazing at the ultrasound screen, while Laing, overwhelmed with emotion, exclaims, “Oh my god!” His voice cracks as he breaks into tears, clearly moved by the moment.
The couple, who first met on the hit reality show Made in Chelsea in 2019, have been open about their plans for the future. After marrying in 2023 in a beautiful Spanish ceremony, they’ve continued to share their journey with fans through their podcast, NewlyWeds.
Their followers have closely followed their relationship and their candid discussions on everything from married life to future plans for children.
Their baby announcement has been met with an outpouring of support from celebrity friends, including Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague, who wrote, “Congratulations guys!!!!” Former Made in Chelsea star Lucy Watson also shared her excitement, commenting, “Exciting times to come, congratulations.” Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell added, “Omg congratulations guys so so exciting!”
Both Laing and Habboo have found their professional footing in recent years. Laing, known for co-founding the successful confectionery company Candy Kittens, has recently taken on a new role as a co-host on BBC Radio 1’s Going Home show.
Habboo, who has been supporting her husband behind the scenes, will temporarily co-host the show alongside him while Vick Hope, their regular co-presenter, is on maternity leave.
Laing, whose great-grandfather founded the McVitie’s biscuit empire, has always expressed a desire for a large family. In a 2024 interview with The Times, he spoke about his initial fears around having children but shared how hearing the words “The best thing I ever had is being called Dad” helped change his perspective. Now, he’s ready and excited to start a family. “I would like to have loads,” he said.
Laing’s dedication to charitable causes has also been in the spotlight recently. This year, he completed an extraordinary challenge, raising over £2 million for Comic Relief by running five consecutive ultra-marathons in five days totalling 150 miles (241km).
The marathon culminated in a heartwarming moment when he crossed the finish line and ran straight into Habboo’s arms, visibly overcome with emotion.
Fans are eager to follow this next chapter in the couple’s life, and with their public persona and genuine chemistry, their story is set to inspire many.
