BRICS Slams US-Israeli Strikes on Iran as UN Charter Violation – World news

The declaration, published by Brazil’s Foreign Ministry, reads:

“We express grave concern over the military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran since 13 June 2025, which constitute a violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.”

The collective of emerging global powers sharply criticized the unprovoked targeting of Iranian nuclear sites, warning that such attacks breach international norms and the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

BRICS also reaffirmed its commitment to a Middle East free from nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction — a clear rebuke to the Israeli regime, whose undeclared nuclear arsenal continues to threaten regional and global peace with impunity under US protection.

“BRICS remains committed to promoting international peace and security and to fostering diplomacy and peaceful dialogue as the only sustainable path toward long-term stability in the region,” the statement emphasized.

The Israeli regime launched its cowardly strikes on Iran in the early hours of June 13. Within hours, Iran responded decisively. On June 22, the United States further escalated tensions by attacking three Iranian nuclear facilities in a reckless display of military adventurism.

Tehran delivered a powerful response the following night, targeting Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar — the largest US military base in the region — exposing the vulnerability of American forces and signaling Iran’s determination to defend its sovereignty.

On June 24, US President Donald Trump hastily declared a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, a move widely seen as an admission of strategic failure. While Tel Aviv claimed it had fulfilled its objectives, Iranian officials declared victory, asserting that Israel had been forced into retreat under the weight of Iran’s resistance.
