US must compensate for damages incurred on Iran: Deputy FM

In an interview with Al Mayadeen TV, Saeed Khatibzadeh said Washington must compensate Iran for damages incurred on its nuclear facilities.

He said Iran will lodge a complaint against the US at the United Nations.

While the Zionist regime waged a war of aggression against Iran on June 13 and struck Iran’s military, nuclear and residential areas for 12 days, the US stepped in and conducted military attacks on three nuclear sites in Iran’s Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan on June 22.

The Iranian military forces conducted powerful counterattacks immediately after the aggression. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force carried out 22 waves of retaliatory missile strikes against the Zionist regime as part of Operation True Promise III that inflicted heavy losses on cities across the occupied territories.

A ceasefire that came into force on June 24 has brought the fighting to a halt, he said, adding that it was the US that sent messages about the cessation of war.

The deputy minister stressed that the Iranian nation imposed its will on the Zionist regime through resistance and forced the enemy to stop its acts of aggression unilaterally.

While the US was sending messages to Iran via various channels, Tehran maintained that the acts of aggression must stop first before any decision about a ceasefire, he added.

Khatibzadeh emphasized that Iran has not made any written agreement whatsoever with the Zionist regime that may contain certain clauses. “What happened was the cessation of aggression by the Zionists. In parallel with that, Iran won’t launch strikes despite being prepared,” he explained.
