Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday lauded Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and members of the high-level diplomatic delegation for what he termed a “highly effective” visit to the United States and Europe, undertaken to counter India’s recent propaganda campaign and highlight Pakistan’s perspective on the latest tensions with New Delhi.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Bilawal, who led the delegation on the prime minister’s directive, called on the premier in Islamabad to brief him on the outcome of the visit. The premier later hosted a dinner in honour of the delegation.

The visit, spanning key capitals across the US, UK and European Union, was aimed at presenting Islamabad’s stance on the recent conflict with India and preventing further escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Commending the delegation’s efforts, the prime minister said Pakistan’s position was conveyed abroad with “clarity, composure and national spirit”, and was being acknowledged globally. “The delegation fought Pakistan’s case with great zeal and returned victorious,” the statement quoted him as saying.

PM Shehbaz especially praised Bilawal for his leadership and diplomatic acumen, adding that the delegation correctly articulated the events from the Pahalgam incident to concerns related to the Indus Waters Treaty.

The prime minister remarked that India’s “unjustified war hysteria” had met a firm diplomatic and strategic response. “By the grace of Allah Almighty, the prayers of the nation and the military strength of our brave armed forces, India had to pay a heavy price,” he said.

The premier also referred to the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year, saying the government had done its utmost to provide relief to all segments of society, particularly salaried workers. He thanked all coalition partners, including the PPP, for their cooperation in preparing the budget.

Looking ahead, he expressed confidence that with the guidance and input of experienced political and diplomatic figures like those in the delegation, the government would successfully navigate internal and external challenges.
